MZUKISI FALENI (rev)
I am a Reformed theologian who was born in the Eastern Cape. I hold a BATh. (Hons) and an MTh. from UWC as well as an MPhil. from Stellenbosch University but practice as a missionary in my church in Cape Town. Coming from a small town: Hankey, the exposure to the atmosphere in Cape Town was a huge challenge. I find fulfilment in life by working with Yahweh and believe that the absolute principle of injustice means the impossibility of union with oneself, with other men, and with God; and whatever strength is found, is in the virtue of some admixture of justice and unity.
My favourite music is Gospel music that is written to express either personal or a communal belief regarding Christian life, as well as to give a Christian alternative to mainstream secular music. I believe an inspired lyric moves the heart of God. Hymns like Esona Sihlobo ngu Yesu; played on Isandulela on Sundays 8h00-8h30 are great Gospel songs rooted in the Reformed tradition.
Bishop Shirley Ann Caesar was born on October 13, 1938, Durham, North Carolina. She is an American Gospel music singer, songwriter and recording artist whose career has spanned six decades. A multi-award winning artist with eleven Grammy Awards and seven Dove Awards to her credit, she is known as the "Queen of Gospel Music”. This woman knows the shortest way to my heart.
SLOTS ON UMHLOBO
I host a 5h00-8h30 Sunday morning program, which discusses different thought provoking ideas on philosophy of religion. The program presents religion as not being separate from the ordinary life. It is life - life of every kind viewed from the standpoint of meaning and purpose; life lived in the fuller awareness of its human quality and spiritual significance. We teach that the religious woman is a person who holds God and man in one thought at one time, at all times, who suffers harm done to others, whose greatest passion is compassion, and whose greatest strength is love and defiance of despair. On family enrichment, we ponder on those things which make up a truly strong family with good family values. A strong family unit creates a safe and positive place for all members to thrive; it sustains its members, supports and nourishes them continually. The members are able to utilize resources and to live together in a fairly healthy manner. We also sharpen the contextual preaching skills of those who are privileged to preach. I also feature on another program, Imvuselelo, twice a month from 22h00-1h00 on Sundays.
Bean, also known as Mr. Bean- The ultimate Disaster Movie, is a 1997 feature film based on the television series Mr. Bean. It stars Rowan Atkinson
WHAT DEFINES YOU? Being grounded in a crystal clear sense of responsibility, striving for excellence in my chosen profession defines me. I invest time and effort in becoming good at the things I chooses to do. A high subscriber in family values, I also believe that for anyone to arrive at God the Creator, he or she needs the Scripture as his or her Guide and Teacher. Such a person does not try to prove the authority of Scripture but rather describes it as autopiston or self-authenticating.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT BEING ON RADIO?
I enjoy sharing new ideas with my people. I feel I have a Christian obligation to plough back to my society the knowledge I received from its soil. I acknowledge that most of our people are not schooled but a number of them are highly educated. I enjoy informing them.
WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME? I am not sure I have spare time. The time with my family would not be regarded as spare time; it is being on duty, full-time. I spend spare time on reading and writing articles in the library.
WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET AND WHY?
Robert Gabriel Karigamombe Mugabe. He seems to have an idea on how to liberate an African child.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN FIVE YEARS?
I see myself in one of the previously white universities sharing my theological experience with the African child, helping him or her to understand theology as the master of all sciences.
WHAT EXCITES YOU MOST ABOUT LIFE?
I am greatly in love with philosophical studies: the fundamental nature of existence, of man, and of man's relationship to existence. A comprehensive system of ideas about human nature and the nature of the reality we live in is a guide for living because the issues it addresses are basic and pervasive, determining the course we take in life and how we treat other people.
FIRST THING YOU DO WHEN YOU WAKE UP
I make sure that the connection between my mind, soul and body is still intact, open my eyes, and look at the woman next to me whether is she still breathing; everything else will follow.
THINGS THAT MASS WITH YOUR “MHHHH”
Political corruption: the use of legislated powers by government officials for illegitimate private gain. This is the major cause of poverty and is over-against God and all principles of life. South Africa is still home to high levels of violence against its women and children: “Provide justice for the needy and the fatherless; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute. Rescue the poor and needy; save them from the hand of the wicked” Psalm 82:3-4. Abuse against women and children is the direct abuse of God and His creatures.
